Daryn Zholdasbay presents CELSI research on AI and social dialogue at the 18th Annual TURI Conference in Warsaw*
Oct. 26, 2026
CELSI junior researcher Daryn Zholdasbay presented his research on 20 October at the 18th Annual Conference of Trade Union Related Research Institutes (TURI).
The conference took place in the Polish Parliament (Sejm) in Warsaw and once again brought together members of the TURI network, research institutes from across Europe closely connected to trade unions.
This year's organisers were the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI), the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) and the Warsaw office of Syndex. The Parliamentary Committee for Social Policy co-hosted the event.
The programme looked at Poland's rise to become the world's 20th largest economy and its costs, the promotion of collective bargaining in the EU, and the future of European industry.
Daryn spoke in the session "Trade union related research on the CEE region in the spotlight", which CELSI coordinated together with KOPINT-Tárki Institute of Economic Research. He was joined by colleagues from our regional partners KOPINT-Tárki, the Institute of Public Affairs and the Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences.
His talk, "How new policy issues create opportunities for social partner participation", built on his diploma research at Comenius University. That research is also published as a CELSI Research Report.
Comparing Slovakia and Italy, he shows that the same EU rules on AI led to different results. Italian social partners engaged actively, including through collective bargaining, while in Slovakia participation stayed mostly consultative. New policy issues, he concludes, do not expand participation on their own.
